In Khmer there are a total of 24 dependent vowels. Khmer dependent vowels are voiceless on their own and they are solely dependent on consonants. Since there are two types consonants, first series consonants and second series consonants, there are also two sets of dependent vowels pronunciation.

Khmer Dependent Vowels with First Series Consonants
The first series consonants has an inherent aw អ sound. There are a total of 15 first series consonants. The dotted circle represents consonant. There can be only one vowel per consonant. As you see here, dependent vowel can be written above, below, before, after, or around consonant.
