Khmer independent vowels are vowels that can be written without a consonant. They are independent of consonants, hence the name, independent vowels. They stand on their own and some of them are words with meanings just like Khmer consonants.
In Khmer we called independent vowels srak-penh-toul ស្រៈពេញតួ, which means complete vowels. There are 13 Khmer independent vowels.
